Queensland Newspapers was the communication centre and the Editorial Office for Brisbane in the late 70s to early 80s.
The communication area was located in the computer centre of QNP and then moved to a comunication room next to editorial office. A 8 meter Satellite dish, was built above this room. QNP expansion with the introduction of the Cyber Editorial system forced AAP Editorial to move to Riverside
and STC House 545 Queen St.
Today, the Satellite dish is still in position and the remains of the communication room has moved to a
hut on the roof of QNP.
Network House was the home to the Brisbane Stockexchange. AAP had over the years, offices on the 7th and 15th Floors.
Staff would go down to the trading floor and input stock information electronically. This service was also collected
from other states around Australia. The Stockbrokers were then able to get information from the the other states to trade with.
On the trading floor and in the brokers offices were the Stockmaster systems and then were replaced with the Videomaster systems.
With the opening of the Riverside building and the moving of the Brisbane Stockexchange, AAP Group, AAP-Res and AAP-Res Communication Services became residence of the building occuping the 7th Floor.
The first communication room was located at the back of the AAP-Res technical section known as the "cheese".
With the formation of AAPT from AAP-Res Communication Services and the end of the joint agreement with Reuters, AAPT moved to new accommodation on the 8th floor and this started closure of the Bowen Hills office.
communication equipment that AAPIS was running out of the cheese was then moved from the cheese to 7th floor communication room.
then took up residence in the spare area of the 7th floor.
AAP Group was then asked to move to the 27th floor with expansion of the Australia Stockexchange (ASX).
