Yowee the Loveable

Memories left to Yowee

Leonard and I set off from Lighting Ridge for "Dunlop Station" Louth
As we were leaving Lighting Ridge we fuelled up, I sorced a Black Opal pendant for my betterhalf.
We enjoy a swim in the Artesian Pool, (water was very hot). They had markets so called in for a snag (sausage onion, baccon and tomato sauce on a couple of pieces of bread)
I had to stop at Shindys Hotel Louth to give some family photos to the Publican.
We stopped at Berrwarrenia for a cuppa and pickup a stricter tha Leonard started to collect.
We then drove onto Louth to Shindys Inn, a well known watering hole of the area.
Louth is like Birdsville, every year they have "Picnic Racers" and the place comes alive with people from all around by air, automobile and bus. The Races are on the 6th August 2022.

Arrived in Louth NSW

Shindy Inn where we wet our whistle, collected another sticker.
After meeting the owner I passes over some photos of the Inn in 1950s as well as the picture of the owner Aunt.
Had a great time showing other photos of the district and talking about the Local from my parents time.

Crossing the Darling River

I was told that when you cross the Darling River, you had past the "Black Stump" and you will alway return there.

Dunlop Station

This was the end of the day trip and we setup our camp by the river for the night.
It was interesting in that there was hardly any noise coming out of the area. A river lizard made his way down the branch to the water.
At 6pm Leonard and I made our way to the Homestead.
Kim gave a a guided tour of the main house. We met her daughter Kodie and Rob the farm maintence manager. The homestead in it day had 15 bedrooms, servent area and the main house.
the house lost the back area to a fire in 1930s.
I was able to give to Kim some photos showing my fathers family, buildings in which they lived and horses being trained for mustering on the farm.
Also there was the flooding of the Darling River of the farm in the 1950s too, taken via aircraft
Leonard and I enjoyed our short stay there.
